02/2013 - INNOVATING A NEW IDENTITY FOR TECHNICAL KNIT

Over the past 6 months Angela has been commissioned by Camira Fabrics to create a portfolio of exciting new textile designs for their technical knitting capability here in the U.K with the aim of innovating and diversifying across market sectors. Camira Teknit has been a leader in technical knitted solutions for task chair mesh backs and screens for the contract office market for over ten years. Angela has been exploring unchartered design and production territory experimenting with stitch, structures, yarns, colour and product application which is yielding a collection of extremely fresh evocative textiles with remarkable aesthetics, handle and application. The most amazing and intriguing outcome is these new textiles don't even look knitted. The concept is inspired by architectural glass and the reflective facades of the urban environment. This is where technical knit mimics the architectural fabric of the city. Here's a snapshot of some of the experimental structures.
